Samuel Jardine is a geopolitical risk specialist and public historian specialising in frontier geopolitics, particularly in space, the Arctic, Antarctic, and the seabed, with a particular focus on emerging issues surrounding multipolar competition, contested governance, and climate conflict. His historical interests complement his analytical speciality; lying with the geopolitics of contested borderlands and โgreat powerโ relationships. These two roles facilitate Samโs advocacy of an Applied History approach to contemporary policy issues, supported by the utilisation of Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT). Sam is the current Head of Research at London Politica, where he founded the Geopolitics on the Periphery programme exploring a unified framework for emerging geopolitical risk in space, the polar regions and the seabed. Sam is also a Senior Advisor at Luminint, a Research Consultant at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), a Research Associate of the Climate Change (In)Security Project jointly run by Oxford University and the Centre for Historical Analysis and Conflict Research (CHACR), and a 2023 Research Fellow at the Open Lunar Foundation. He is also a RUSI Military Sciences Rising Star Thought Leadership Programme mentee. Sam was previously the Project Manager for Lord Kerslakeโs independent crossbench commission into UK Military Accommodation, a Summer Research Fellow for the Center for Space Governance and a former Fellow of the Arctic Spring College Geopolitics program hosted by the Arctic Institute, The Ecologic Institute, and MiH-RCN. He holds an MA in Modern History from Kingโs College London and a BA(Hons) in History from the Open University.
