Software responsibility as model for nanotech?

Foresight ally Jeff Ubois has a new book out, published by Fondazione Giannino Bassetti, Conversations on Innovation, Power, and Responsibility. ย Yours truly is quoted. ย An excerpt:

Peterson suggests that a closer look at the software developersย might provide some clues about responsible cultures ofย innovation. โ€œIf you really want to know how to create aย sense of responsibility, look at the software developmentย community,โ€ she says. โ€œThey see their work as political. Theyย see it as ethics-based. They think of the ethical consequencesย of their decisions. Theyโ€™re very politicized and very aware. So,ย why is that? Why is that true in software and not so much trueย in other areas?โ€

Of course this isn’t true of all software developers. ย Just many of them. ย โ€”Chris Peterson
